“The words of the Apostle Paul: “Jesus Christ became poor for you” (cf. 2 Cor 8:9); are the theme of Pope Francis’ message for the 6th World Day of the Poor, which in 2022 was celebrated on Sunday 13 November. The Pontiff draws attention to the fact that after an initial generous response to the current crises, charity is beginning to lose some of its enthusiasm, but the poor still need help.” (source: https://www.vaticannews.va/)
The Charity Foundation “House of Providence” is close to the needy elderly on a daily basis, offering them a free hot lunch, food and hygiene packages, but most importantly spiritual support. However, on World Day of the Poor, with the help of local volunteers, we visited the lonely and needy, sweetening their loneliness with food packages and a word of encouragement.
